PBA: Purefoods’ Pingris, Talk ’N Text import figure in post-game fracas

Purefoods' Marc Pingris and Talk 'N Text's Ivan Johnson both exchanged verbal jabs after their Game 2 tussle.

(CNN Philippines) — Purefoods bruiser Marc Pingris got into altercations with Talk ’N Text import Ivan Johnson several times during the heated Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Commissioner’s Cup semifinals game at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum on Monday (April 6).

The match was so intense that the two cagers continued jawing at each other even after the final buzzer while on their way to their respective dugouts.

But Pingris bared it was Johnson who instigated the post-game fracas.

“Nanghahamon yung import nila e. Hindi ko pinapansin tapos siya nagmumura.” Pingris said in the aftermath of their 93-77 Game 2 loss in the best-of-five series.

“Ayaw kong ma-fine.”

In the 2013 Governors’ Cup, Pingris figured in a brawl opposite GlobalPort’s Kelly Nabong resulting in a hefty P60,000 fine and a one-game suspension.

When the dust settled, Pingris said the team is moving on from the incident and is shifting its focus on Game 3 on Thursday (April 9), also at the Big Dome.

The best-of-five series is tied at one-game apiece.

“Basta kami focus kami sa sunod na laro. Tapos na ‘yan. Iiwanan na namin ‘yun, bahala na siya,” he said.

The Hotshots, for sure, will be ready for the physicality but Pingris expressed that game officials should keep an eye out for second motions to avoid scuffles.

“Handa na kami sa physicality, pero hindi naman yung makikipagsuntukan na kami,” Pingris said.
