Earlier this month, my family and I headed to Singapore for a quick birthday getaway for my husband. Traveling with a 5-year-old means juggling energy, snacks, and unpredictable weather, so we wanted a place that would be kid-friendly while still letting us relax. We ended up at Hotel Ora, the newly renovated property inside Resorts World Sentosa, which ticked all the right boxes..
And just to be clear, this isn’t a sponsored post. We paid for our stay, and everything I share here comes straight from our own experience.
If you’re planning a family trip to Singapore, here’s why staying at RWS (and Hotel Ora in particular) might just be the best choice:
1. Everything’s Within Reach
Every parent knows how important proximity is when you’ve got a little one ready to run. Hotel Ora is within walking distance of major attractions like the Singapore Oceanarium, Universal Studios Singapore (USS), and the Harry Potter-themed land at USS (not brand new, but still a big draw for fans young and old). The best part? Walkways are covered and stroller-friendly, so even if the skies open up (and they often do in September), you won’t need to worry about soggy socks or cranky kids. Convenience really does make or break a family trip, and here, you get it in spades.
2. Weave Mall for Picky Eaters (and Parents, Too)
The recently opened Weave Mall was a lifesaver for our family. With a 5-year-old who has a mind of his own when it comes to food, having a variety of options right downstairs was a dream. I grabbed coffee at Coach Coffee Shop, my husband indulged in Din Tai Fung’s Resorts World-exclusive menu, and our son happily munched bread from Standard Bread. There’s also milk tea from Chagee for an afternoon pick-me-up. And if you need to keep your child entertained, the Birkenstock Oasis has a small play area—no purchase required, just follow them on Instagram. It’s the little surprises like this that make family meals less of a battle and more of a treat.
3. USS VIP Experience–Worth the Splurge
We decided to splurge on the USS VIP Experience, and honestly, I don’t think we could do the park any other way again (budget allowing, of course). Having a dedicated guide meant skipping the long lines, saving our energy, and seeing the best of the park without stress. Our son got to meet characters up close, we hopped on rides back-to-back, and as parents, we could actually relax and enjoy ourselves. Big thanks to our wonderful guide Steven, who made the whole day seamless and extra fun. Sometimes, investing in less stress is the best souvenir you can buy.
4. The Singapore Oceanarium—Learning Made Fun
This was easily one of the highlights of our trip. The Singapore Oceanarium is more than just a giant aquarium—it’s a place where kids learn while being wide-eyed with wonder. Our little one loved the interactive displays and especially the Fahlo bracelet, which lets you “adopt” a sea creature and track its movements in real life. It’s the kind of experience that makes learning fun for kids and sparks curiosity long after you’ve left. And truth be told, we adults found it just as fascinating.
5. Hotel Ora Amenities & Thoughtful Service
Hotel Ora impressed us with its attention to detail. The staff surprised my husband with a birthday greeting and some delicious treats, while our mini bar on the first night was fully complimentary (a small gesture that goes a long way). If you’re lucky with the weather, the pool is a great spot to relax as a family. Parents needing to work will appreciate the 24/7 convenience store and co-working spaces, designed with soaring ceilings that make them feel airy and welcoming. And let me just say—the breakfast buffet is worth every extra dollar. The spread was so varied that everyone, from our picky eater to us, left happy and full.
When you’re traveling with kids, comfort, convenience, and little touches of care matter so much. Resorts World Sentosa’s Hotel Ora manages to combine all three without sacrificing fun for adults. Whether you’re chasing rollercoasters, sea creatures, or simply some downtime by the pool, this spot makes for a family getaway where everyone wins.
