A day out with the kids doesn’t have to be just fun and games, nor does it need to be a dull trudge through a historical site. Why not combine both for the perfect “field trip” that’s exciting and educational for everyone involved? Whether you’re a parent or a tito or tita on babysitting duty, here are five engaging educational destinations that promise a great time for the whole family:

1. The Mind Museum

Located in Taguig, The Mind Museum has been a top educational destination since 2012. With over 250 interactive exhibits, a park, and a garden, this science museum invites both kids and adults to explore the wonders of atoms, the life cycle, space, technology, and more. The museum also offers special programs, including an outdoor camping experience complete with stargazing and planet observation.

2. Museo Pambata

Many millennials might recall their own childhood field trips to Museo Pambata. Since its opening in 1994, this interactive children’s museum has continued to evolve, adding new rooms dedicated to Filipino excellence in music, weaving, and more. Although currently undergoing renovations as of August 2024, Museo Pambata remains open for private events and special workshops, with a grand reopening on the horizon.

3. Food Wanderer x Lakbay Museo

Food Wanderer x Lakbay Museo is a unique food art display museum that offers a culinary journey through the Philippines’ diverse regions. Visitors can snap Instagram-worthy photos alongside oversized, detailed displays of iconic Filipino dishes and symbols from all over the country. To top it off, you can even sample real Filipino delicacies at their souvenir shop.

4. Bakebe

Got a budding baker in the family? Bakebe is the perfect place to nurture that passion. This innovative baking studio allows customers to create their own delicious treats without the need for a live instructor. Instead, participants follow an app that guides them through the baking process step by step. And don’t worry—pastry chefs are on standby to help if needed. All equipment and ingredients are provided, making it a fun, hassle-free experience.

5. Dream Lab

Dream Lab, a “comprehensive entrepreneurship museum,” operates under the concept of “Be Your Own Boss.” Visitors can learn about starting a business in a fun and colorful way. As they explore the interactive areas, they’ll also find informational signs that explain the basics of launching a business, from obtaining a barangay clearance to registering with the Department of Trade & Industry.
