Geo Chiu is top overall pick in PBA Season 50 Rookie Draft
Metro Manila, Philippines - The Terrafirma Dyip got Geo Chiu as their first overall pick in the PBA Season 50 Rookie Draft on Sunday, Sept. 7, at the Mall of Asia Music Hall in Pasay City.
The former Ateneo Blue Eagle was the tallest among the 122 aspirants, who joined the annual selection event of Asia's first play-for-pay basketball league.
Chiu, who had previous experiences with Gilas Pilipinas and Ehime Orange Vikings in the Japan B.League Division 2, will boost the frontline of Terrafirma, which hopes to turn its fortunes after yet another disappointing season.
Meanwhile, the Converge FiberXers used the second overall pick it acquired through a pre-draft trade with the Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters on guard Juan Gomez de Liaño.
The Blackwater Bossing went with former Gilas Pilipinas Youth standout Dalph Panopio as their third overall pick.
Chris Koon of Ateneo and LJay Gonzales of Far Eastern University rounded up the top five as the NorthPort Batang Pier and NLEX Road Warriors selected them at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively.
