Alex Eala continues her impressive performance at the WTA 250 São Paulo Open in Brazil.

Metro Manila, Philippines - Alex Eala continued to sizzle in WTA 250 São Paulo Open as she swept Argentina’s Julia Riera, 6-1, 6-4, in the Round of 16 on Thursday, Sept. 11 (Manila time) in Brazil.

The 20-year-old Eala dominated early just like in her opening match as she raced to a 4-0 lead and needed only 33 minutes to secure the first set win.

Eala and Riera have split their two previous encounters, but in this meeting, it was clear that the Filipino ace wanted it more.

Eala will now turn her attention to the quarterfinals, where she will face world No. 130 Janice Tjen of Indonesia.

Like Eala, who won her first US Open main draw match two weeks ago, Tjen also advanced to the second round with an upset against Veronika Kudermetova.
