Metro Manila, Philippines - The weather bureau lifted wind alerts in Batanes with Typhoon Gorio out of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 13.

In a 5 p.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said “Gorio” has no direct effect on the country.

Batanes may still have moderate to heavy rains until Thursday afternoon, PAGASA said.

PAGASA said the southwest monsoon, or habagat, may still induce rain in parts of the Visayas, Mindanao, Bicol, Mimaropa, and Quezon province until Thursday.

It said “Gorio” hit southeastern Taiwan and heading to mainland China.
