NDRRMC: 30K families affected by Typhoon Bising, habagat
Metro Manila, Philippines - Around 30,000 families across three regions in Luzon have been affected by the combined effects of Typhoon Bising (international name: Danas) and the southwest monsoon or habagat, the national disaster management agency reported Tuesday, July 8.
Almost all of the 30,000 families were from Central Luzon, with the remaining 617 in Ilocos Region and 160 in the Cordillera Administrative Region, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said.
At least 1,000 families or nearly 3,000 individuals in Central Luzon have sought temporary shelters outside evacuation centers.
Floods were recorded in Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, and Zambales. Thirty-five areas remain flooded, while floods in seven areas have subsided, the NDRRMC said.
The agency said three roads in Ilocos remain impassable.
So far, the government has provided P687,000 worth of aid to affected families.
During Bising’s traverse in the country, Signal No. 1 was raised over some areas in northern Luzon.
