LIST: Classes suspended due to tsunami threat after Russia quake
Metro Manila, Philippines - Several local government units have suspended classes on Wednesday, July 30, amid expected minor tsunami waves triggered by a magnitude 8.7 tremor in Russia.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology warned those in coastal areas facing the Pacific Ocean to stay away from the beach and not go to coasts as tsunami waves may arrive in the afternoon.
The Department of the Interior and Local Government has urged preemptive evacuation to move residents to safer grounds.
The following local government units declared class suspensions:
+ Catanduanes
+ Coastal barangays and vulnerable areas of Davao Oriental
+ Coastal barangays of Davao Occidental
+ Cagayan (Aparri, Abulug, Calayan, Ballesteros)
+ Quezon (Infanta, Burdeos, Quezon)
