Metro Manila, Philippines - Six people were killed in ongoing heavy rain and flooding in parts of the country, the national disaster management agency reported Tuesday, July 22.

It said two deaths were confirmed, one each in Northern Mindanao and Caraga, while four were up for validation, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRMMC) said in its update.

It said the new fatality was in Mimaropa, while authorities validate two reported deaths in Northern Mindanao and one from Davao Region.

Five were reported injured while seven were missing, the NDRRMC said.

Around 1.2 million people have suffered from the calamity in the aftermath of Tropical Storm Crising.

The government said it has provided P61 million in assistance.

Officials said more than 17,000 people are in evacuation centers, while over 65,000 others have sought shelter elsewhere.

Power distributor Meralco also reported that as of 7 a.m., around 167,000 customers encountered power outages, mostly in Metro Manila, Bulacan, and Cavite, while there were also reports from Rizal, Laguna, Batangas, and Quezon.

Meralco said over 163,000 affected customers were in flooded areas.

Meanwhile, government data showed P54 million in agricultural production and at least P413 million in infrastructure were damaged.
