Metro Manila, Philippines - The San Miguel Beermen avenged their controversial opening loss with a convincing 98-92 victory over the TNT Tropang 5G in Game 2 of the PBA Season 49 Philippine Cup finals on Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

Don Trollano dropped most of his team-high 22 points in the fourth quarter along with six rebounds for the Beermen.

The Tropang 5G stayed within striking distance throughout the second half, but committing 17 turnovers and a terrible 29.7% shooting from beyond-the-arc did not help their comeback attempt.

The exit of big man Poy Erram added to TNT's woes as he suffered a right ankle sprain following a collision with June Mar Fajardo in a defensive play in the third period.

Fajardo finished with 17 points and nine rebounds, while Mo Tautuaa chipped in 16 points for San Miguel.

The Beermen will have a chance to gain the series lead in the best-of-seven affair on Friday, July 18, at the Big Dome.
