‘This is my golden moment’ CJ Opiaza officially crowned Miss Grand International 2024
Metro Manila, Philippines - CJ Opiaza of the Philippines has officially been crowned Miss Grand International 2024, making history as the first Filipina to receive the golden crown after India's Rachel Gupta relinquished the title.
The coronation ceremony took place Tuesday in Bangkok, where Opiaza, who initially placed first runner-up, was formally awarded the title by Miss Grand International (MGI) President Nawat Itsaragrisil.
Wearing a striking green and gold gown by Filipino designer Mak Tumang, the emotional beauty queen addressed the audience with heartfelt words of pride and gratitude.
“I know the best things happen for a reason. You just have to wait for that very specific moment, but you have to hold on and do whatever it takes, before I signed up for this job, I knew I was born ready. I am always ready, and now I’ve been given the challenge and the responsibility to fill those shoes as your Miss Grand International 2024,” she said in her speech.
Opiaza reflected on her journey, blending humor and humility, as she recounted a lighthearted exchange during the pageant.
She went on to dedicate the victory to her supporters, especially her fellow Filipinos.
“This is my golden moment. And this is a historic win for the Philippines. We will all win. We will always fight. Always. This is for the Philippines.”
In attendance was MGI Philippines National Director Arnold Vegafria, along with Opiaza’s team and loved ones. The newly-crowned queen will return to the Philippines for a grand homecoming celebration on June 8.
