Metro Manila, Philippines - Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon on Tuesday confirmed he is staying in the Cabinet amid a shakeup that has seen several officials replaced.

“I did get a call from the executive secretary that the president did not accept my resignation,” Dizon said during his confirmation hearing before the powerful Commission on Appointments on June 3.

He responded to Senator Joel Villanueva, who asked if he had received clearance from Malacañang.

“Otherwise, sayang naman ito [this is all a waste],” Villanueva said, as the hearing stretched over three hours focusing on a number of transportation issues.

The panel approved Dizon’s appointment and endorsed it for plenary approval.

He is the latest Cabinet official to be reappointed following President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s call for the courtesy resignation of all secretaries—a move framed as part of a decisive recalibration of his administration.
