26 Filipinos exit Israel, another batch for processing
Metro Manila, Philippines - A group of 26 Filipinos has departed Israel amid escalating tensions between Israel and Iran, the Philippine embassy said.
The Philippine Embassy in Tel Aviv on Sunday, June 22, said Ambassador Aileen Mendoza and other officials accompanied the group to Allenby Border Crossing, which is among the borders between Israel and Jordan.
Before they left Israel, the Filipinos stayed in a Department of Migrant Workers shelter, where they received relief packages and free legal services regarding their benefits.
The embassy processed the transportation, transit visas, travel documents, and plane tickets for the Filipinos.
The embassy said a batch of 33 Filipinos is also being processed for repatriation.
As of Sunday evening, there are 253 Filipinos who have requested to return to the country, while 375 received aid.
The Department of Foreign Affairs has raised the alert level in both Israel and Iran to Alert Level 3, calling for the voluntary repatriation of Filipinos in the two nations.
