Santa Cruz, Laguna suspends classes, gov’t work due to alleged bomb threat
Metro Manila, Philippines - Classes in all levels and work in the local government of Santa Cruz, Laguna were suspended on Wednesday, June 18, due to an alleged bomb threat that circulated on social media, Mayor Edgar "Egay" San Luis said.
In a Facebook post, Luis said he made the announcement to allow authorities to investigate the threat.
Laguna Governor Ramil Hernandez said that provincial government work will only be temporarily suspended. He said if the inspection comes back clear, government employees will return to work.
Meanwhile, Luis warned the public to be wary of disinformation on social media.
“Hinihikayat po ang lahat na huwag agad maniwala sa mga hindi opisyal na impormasyon. Sa ganitong sitwasyon, ang maling balita ay maaaring magdulot ng takot, kaguluhan, at panganib,” he said.
