PAGASA: LPA near Baler may intensify, storm outside PH monitored
Metro Manila, Philippines - The state weather bureau on Wednesday, June 11, warned that the low pressure area (LPA) east of Baler, Aurora may develop into a storm, while another storm is being monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
In its 2 p.m. advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the LPA was spotted 600 kilometers (km) east of Baler, Aurora.
The agency said it had a “medium chance” to develop into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.
Simultaneously, Tropical Storm “Wutip” was last seen slowly moving east southeastward about 850 km west of Northern Luzon.
As of its last threat potential forecast, PAGASA said “Wutip” will not have any direct impact in the country.
The weather bureau forecast heavy rainfall due to the strengthened southwest monsoon (habagat) over the following areas until Thursday, June 12:

- Cavite
- Batangas
- Romblon
- Palawan
- Camarines Sur
- Catanduanes
- Albay
- Sorsogon
- Antique
- Negros Occidental
- Guimaras
- Northern Samar
PAGASA said there might be one or two tropical cyclones this June. The bureau is expecting 11 to 19 tropical cyclones this 2025.
