BINI, Ethan David, Shawn Castro apologize after backlash over leaked video
Metro Manila, Philippines - P-pop sensation BINI, GAT member Ethan David, and internet personality Shawn Castro issued public apologies over a controversial viral video that showed them laughing over inappropriate sexual jokes.
The leaked eight-second video showed three BINI members, David, and Castro laughing over crude jokes and actions while referencing a minor.
In a statement released Thursday evening, the Nation’s Girl Group acknowledged the criticisms they received over the short clip.
"We know that the past couple of days have been triggering and disappointing for all of you. Sincerely, we understand where all of those feelings are coming from,” they said.
BINI said the video showed “a private moment of us with friends” and their actions “did not intend to hurt anyone.”
“We offer no excuse for our actions, reactions, and choice of words. We take full accountability. Nagkamali kami (We were wrong),” they added.
David issued a separate statement and said he takes “full responsibility” for his crude actions and remarks caught in the video.
“Humihingi po ko ng kapatawaran sa mga nasaktan at nadisappoint sa akin,” he said. “Nais ko pong ipahayag na malaki po ang respeto ko sa lahat ng tao lalong lalo na sa kababaihan.”

Meanwhile, Castro apologized via a story post on Instagram, and stressed that "no minor, or anyone, was hurt physically, mentally, sexually, or in any manner."
“First of all, we would like to apologize for the video circulating around. We apologize to everyone who got offended, triggered, or hurt in the actions seen in the said video,” he said.
“That short video was taken out of context. We do not promote those actions in any matter," the content creator added.
