Teodoro, Remullas keep Cabinet positions — ES Bersamin
Metro Manila, Philippines - Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro, Justice Secretary Boying Remulla, and Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla will continue to serve in the government after they retain their posts amid the Marcos administration’s bid for a Cabinet revamp.
In a briefing on Thursday, May 29, Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin said Marcos declined the courtesy resignations of Teodoro and the Remullas.
“Definitely declined,” he said when asked about their resignation.
Last week, Bersamin announced other cabinet members who have been retained amid the top-level shake-up.
Apart from himself, Bersamin said these secretaries include Trade Secretary Maria Cristina Roque, Finance Secretary Ralph Recto, Development Secretary Arsenio Balisacan, Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman, and Economic czar Frederick Go.
Marcos sought the courtesy resignation of all Cabinet secretaries, signaling what he described as a decisive recalibration of his administration.
The Palace said the shake-up halfway through Marcos’ term does not single out officials and government operations are unhampered.
