Early oath taking to focus on providing housing, health care - Domagoso
Metro Manila, Philippines - Manila Mayor-elect Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso has taken his oath in a bid to address the city’s issues ahead of assuming office at noon of June 30.
Domagoso took his oath before Supreme Court Associate Justice Antonio Kho Jr. at the high court’s session hall on Monday afternoon, May 19.
“Inagahan na natin ang pagtupad sa rekisitos na ito para mailaan na natin ang ating buong panahon at isip sa mas mahahalagang bagay,” he said in a social media post on Tuesday.

Domagoso said he is aiming to provide decent housing, quality education, and modern healthcare among others.
“Ito ang magiging direksiyon ng ating administrasyon: pamahalaang uunahin ang kapakinabangan ng taumbayan, hindi magiging magarbo sa mga pagdiriwang at sa halip ay maingat na gugugulin ang pera ng bayan para sa mas mahahalagang pagkakagastusan,” he added.
[Translation: This will be the direction of our administration: a government that will put the people’s welfare first and that will not splurge on celebrations but instead carefully utilize public funds for important things.]
Domagoso’s son, Joaquin, also took oath before Kho as Manila’s 1st District councilor.
They were accompanied by Moreno’s wife, Dynee, and their children.
Domagoso will return as mayor of the nation’s capital after a landslide victory against re-electionist Honey Lacuna, who was his former vice mayor.
