Nancy Binay is incoming Makati mayor

Metro Manila, Philippines - Last-term Senator Nancy Binay will be the next mayor of Makati City after a proclamation ceremony held a day after the elections.

She will succeed her sister, Abigail, who is so far out of the winning list in partial and unofficial poll results for the senatorial race.

Binay will foray into local politics after she defeated her brother-in-law and Makati 2nd District Rep. Luis Campos, who is the husband of Abby.

Abby and her brother, Jejomar “Junjun,” also squared off for mayor in 2019.

The Binay clan has led Makati since Jejomar Binay, the former vice president, was appointed officer in charge-mayor in 1986.
