Marcos thanks voters, calls for unity as 5 Alyansa bets land in Senate Top 12
Metro Manila, Philippines – President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Tuesday thanked Filipinos who exercised their right to vote and expressed gratitude to those who supported the Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas slate, as at least five of its endorsed candidates landed in the Top 12 of the Commission on Elections’ partial and unofficial Senate race results.
“We may not have won every seat, but our work and mission continue,” Marcos said in a statement released the day after the elections.
As of Tuesday morning, Erwin Tulfo, Ping Lacson, Tito Sotto, Pia Cayetano, and Lito Lapid, all endorsed by the administration coalition, were among the leading senatorial candidates.
Marcos emphasized the importance of unity and inclusive leadership, regardless of political affiliation.
“Governance is a shared responsibility, a mission that requires unity and burden sharing for the common good. To the newly elected, regardless of party or coalition, I extend my hand. Let us move forward together with open minds and a common purpose,” he said.
The President also paid tribute to all candidates, whether they won or lost, commending their commitment to public service.
“Public service goes beyond elections. The work of nation-building needs all who are ready to serve,” he added.
Camille Villar and Imee Marcos, both previously part of the Alyansa slate, were at the tail end of the Top 12.
During the later part of the campaign period, they sought the endorsement of Vice President Sara Duterte amid reports of friction between the Marcos and Duterte camps.
Marcos described the 2025 midterm elections as a peaceful and dignified exercise of democracy, adding that the next phase must focus on addressing pressing national issues such as inflation, jobs, and corruption.
“It is both a celebration of continuity and a call to act on the real challenges our people face,” he said.
