Davao City, Philippines - Senatorial candidates from the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP), the party of detained former President Rodrigo Duterte, cast their votes for the midterm elections on Monday, May 12.

PDP senatorial candidate Raul Lambino was the first to vote in Brgy. Buenlag in Mangaldan, Pangasinan as soon as polling sites opened for the general public at 7 a.m.

Re-electionist Sen. Bato dela Rosa voted in his hometown at the Apolinar Franco Sr. Elementary School in Davao del Sur before noon.

Consistent survey frontrunner Bong Go, who is also seeking reelection, cast his vote in Lupon, Davao Oriental.

Las Piñas Rep. Camille Villar, whom PDP endorsed at the last minute, registered her ballot at Las Piñas City National High School.

Villar is a member of the administration slate but has skipped a number of its rallies in the last stretch of the campaign after getting the endorsement of Vice President Sara Duterte.

Another guest candidate, Imee Marcos, returned to her hometown in Laoag, Ilocos Norte to cast her vote.

The presidential sister quit her brother’s senatorial lineup over disagreements on the arrest and detention of former President Duterte at the International Criminal Court in the Hague, Netherlands.

Vic Rodriguez, former executive secretary of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., is also set to vote at the Quezon City High School.

Also among the PDP candidates to cast their votes are singer-turned-politician Jimmy Bondoc at Magsaysay High School in Quezon City and Sagip Party-list Rep. Rodante Marcoleta at the Filinvest East Clubhouse in Cainta, Rizal.

The latest OCTA Research survey showed Marcoleta could be a contender for the last spot in the so-called “Magic 12.”

The Commission on Elections said more than 68.6 million people are registered to vote on election day. Polling sites opened at 5 a.m. for seniors, persons with disabilities, and pregnant women, while voting for the general public began at 7 a.m.
