Metro Manila, Philippines - A Filipino worker was killed in the aftermath of the magnitude 7.7 earthquake in Myanmar on March 28, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said on Wednesday, April 9.

It said the victim’s remains have been identified as one of the four missing Filipinos in Myanmar. No further information was released in line with privacy concerns.

“We continue to work and hope for the best for the remaining three Filipinos still unaccounted for as a result of the powerful earthquake that hit Myanmar,” the department said in a statement.

DFA earlier said that the four missing Filipinos were from Mandalay, north of the capital Naypyidaw, near the epicenter where 151 Filipinos are registered.

No updates yet on the other three missing.

In a previous advisory, the Philippine embassy in Myanmar (Yangon) said it deployed a team to Mandalay to assess the status of Filipinos there.

Meanwhile, the Department of Health sent its Philippine Emergency Medical Assistance Team on April 1 to help treat survivors.

Myanmar state media has reported 3,354 deaths and 4,850 injuries so far.
