NLEX toll hike begins March 2
Metro Manila, Philippines - Motorists taking the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) would have to pay more beginning Sunday, March 2, the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) said.
In a statement, the tollway regulator said motorists on the open system from Balintawak, Quezon City to Marilao, Bulacan would pay P5 more for Class 1 vehicles, P13 for Class 2, and P15 for Class 3.
The new rates for the open system would be as follows:
+ Class 1 (cars/SUVs): P79
+ Class 2 (buses/small trucks): P199
+ Class 3 (large trucks/trailers): P238
Meanwhile, the end-to-end fee from Balintawak to Sta. Ines in Mabalacat, Pampanga would add P57 for Class 1, P142 for Class 2, and P173 for Class 3.
The new rates will be:
+ Class 1 (cars/SUVs): P416
+ Class 2 (buses/small trucks): P1,039
+ Class 3 (large trucks/trailers): P1,247
According to the TRB, tollway operator NLEX Corporation was allowed to collect the first tranche of the provisional periodic toll adjustments approved in 2022.
“NLEX Corp. was allowed to recover its investment for the newly completed Candaba 3rd Viaduct by way of add-on toll fees at the Closed System,” the toll regulator added.
In a statement, NLEX Corp. said the increase was due in 2023 but was deferred and split into two tranches to ease the impact on users.
