Undas 2025: PNP beefs up personnel deployment

Metro Manila, Philippines - The Philippine National Police (PNP) will deploy more than 50,000 personnel nationwide to secure this year’s All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day holidays, doubling last year’s 21,000.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said on Tuesday, Oct. 28, that the over 35,000 PNP personnel will be assigned to 5,061 cemeteries, and columbariums across the country.

The remaining police officers will be deployed in airports, bus terminals, seaports, and main roads.

An additional 16,000 personnel from the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine Coast Guard, Bureau of Fire Protection, and other agencies will assist and be on standby in case of emergency.

A total of 45,712 force multipliers composed of barangay tanods, and volunteers will also help maintain security and discipline in various localities.

According to the DILG, the unified 911 system will be activated throughout the Undas period to ensure an efficient emergency response.

Meanwhile, Transportation Assistant Secretary Maricar Bautista said that the transportation system is equipped for the Undas rush as all railways, ports, and terminals have been inspected and put on high alert.

The Department of Transportation is also expecting a passenger surge for the upcoming holidays.

“We’re anticipating the influx [of passengers] would happen any time soon, mga [October] 30, 31, [November] 1, 2,” Bautista said.
