Metro Manila, Philippines - President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has appointed Lito Magno as the officer-in-charge of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to replace resigned director Jaime Santiago.

Malacañang confirmed on Monday, Oct. 27, that Marcos appointed Magno, the NBI Assistant Director for Legal Service, as the bureau’s OIC.

Magno previously led NBI offices in Northern Mindanao and Central Luzon.

Marcos also accepted Santiago’s irrevocable resignation on Monday, over two months since he sent the resignation letter.

He earlier wrote to the president that “detractors and those who have sinister interest in my position incessantly make moves to besmirch my reputation.” https://www.newswatchplus.ph/news/2025/8/18/doj-replacement-nbi-director.html

Santiago, a retired judge, was appointed as NBI director in June last year.
