Wind Signal 1 up over eastern portion of PH due to ‘Ramil’
Metro Manila, Philippines - Wind Signal No. 1 is raised over the eastern portion of the country due to Tropical Depression Ramil, the state weather agency said on Friday, Oct. 17.
Based on the 5 p.m. bulletin of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the following areas will experience wind speeds of 39 to 61 kilometers per hour (kph):
+ the southeastern portion of Isabela
+ the eastern and southern portions of Quirino
+ the southeastern portion of Nueva Vizcaya
+ Aurora
+ the eastern portion of Nueva Ecija
+ the eastern portion of Bulacan
+ the northern and eastern portions of Quezon including Pollilo Islands
+ Camarines Norte
+ Camarines Sur
+ Catanduanes
+ Albay
+ Sorsogon
+ Burias Island
+ Ticao Island
+ Northern Samar
+ the northern portion of Eastern Samar
+ the northern portion of Samar
The weather bureau said Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, and Samar may have around 50 to 100 millimeters of rain until Saturday afternoon.
At 4 p.m., Ramil was seen 640 kilometers east of Juban, Sorsogon, packing 55 kilometers per hour (kph) of sustained winds and 70 kph of gustiness.
PAGASA said Ramil may make landfall in Catanduanes on Saturday afternoon and may pass close to Bicol. It is expected to make another landfall in Aurora or Quezon on Sunday morning.
It said Ramil may be out of the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Monday morning or afternoon.
