Metro Manila, Philippines - Mason Amos of the De La Salle University Green Archers has suffered an MCL (medial collateral ligament) injury, according to multiple reports.

An MCL is a stretch or tear of the ligament on the inner part of the knee, caused by a direct blow to the outer side of the knee, a forceful twist, or overstretching.

Amos' right knee got hurt from an inadvertent hit by National University's Gelo Tolentino when the two collided in the fourth quarter of their game on Oct. 12.

First aiders wheeled him out of the court of the UST Quadricentennial Pavilion in Manila and taken to the hospital for a magnetic resonance imaging scan.

The Green Archers lost to the Bulldogs, 82-78.

Amos is La Salle’s fourth leading scorer, averaging 8.4 points, 3.2 assists, and 2.8 rebounds.

MCL injuries usually take six to eight weeks to recover, which means Amos could return to action the earliest by the week of Nov. 23.

The Green Archers are on a two-game losing streak after five games and fell to fifth place in the team standings.
