UAAP: La Salle survives gritty FEU to get back on winning track
Metro Manila, Philippines - The De La Salle University Green Archers fended off a late rally by the Far Eastern University Tamaraws, 74-72, to return to the win column in the UAAP Season 88 men's basketball tournament on Wednesday, Oct. 1 at the UST Quadricentennial Pavilion in Manila.
Doy Dungo stepped up big time, in the absence of injured Kean Baclaan, for the Green Archers with 17 points.
The Tamaraws had a chance to tie the game at the dying seconds of the fourth quarter when Jorick Bautista was open for a lay-up opportunity, but missed it to give the possession to La Salle.
The Green Archers bounced back from a tough loss to the UST Growling Tigers and improved to 2-1 in the team standings.
Mason Amos, Jacob Cortez, and EJ Gollena each tallied 14 points for La Salle.
Janrey Pasaol had a game-high 25 points, five rebounds, and four assists as FEU remained winless after three outings this season.
Up next for the Green Archers are archrivals Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles on Oct. 5 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, while the Tamaraws will try to pick up their first victory against the Adamson University Soaring Falcons on the same day.
