Metro Manila, Philippines – The Panguil Bay Bridge in Mindanao will reduce the hours-long travel time to just seven minutes, former Public Works Secretary and incumbent Senator Mark Villar has said.

The 3.17-kilometer bridge links Tangub, Misamis Occidental and Tubod, Lanao del Norte.

“This is now the longest sea-crossing bridge in Mindanao,” Villar said in a social media post on Saturday night..

Currently, travel between Misamis Occidental and Lanao del Norte takes 2.5 hours via roll-on, roll-off vessels.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. inaugurated the bridge on Friday.

Design and construction works on the bridge started in February 2020. The Panguil Bay Bridge is a ₱8-billion project.
