Carlo Paalam punches quarterfinals ticket in Paris Olympics
Metro Manila, Philippines — No early goodbyes for Carlo Paalam in the Paris 2024 Olympics.
The Olympic silver medalist flexed his winning form against Jude Gallagher of Ireland en route to unanimous decision victory in the Round of 16 of the men's 57kg boxing division Wednesday at the North Paris Arena.
With the win, the 26-year-old Paalam advanced to the quarterfinals and is a step closer to landing another podium finish in the quadrennial meet.
Paalam will next face Australia's Charlie Senior on Aug. 3.
