Easier access to NAIA, PITX with partial opening of LRT-1 Cavite Extension
Metro Manila, Philippines — Commuters now have better and faster access to key transit points with the partial opening of Phase One of the Light Rail Transit Line 1 Cavite Extension (L1CE) on Saturday, November 16.
President Bongbong Marcos led the inauguration ceremony of the new extension on Friday, noting its role in easing traffic and providing quicker connections to vital hubs like Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) and the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX).
The new stations, which include Redemptorist-Aseana, MIA Road, PITX, Ninoy Aquino Avenue, and Dr. Santos (formerly Sucat), are expected to make daily commutes smoother and reduce travel time for thousands of passengers.
“Kaya hinihiyakat ko lahat ng commuter, subukan ninyo at makikita ninyo. Napakaginhawa kumpara sa traffic na nararanasan natin araw-araw,” Marcos said in a media interview.
[Translation: That's why I encourage all commuters to try it out and see for yourselves. It’s much more convenient compared to the traffic we deal with every day.]
The president also reiterated the government's commitment to advancing the country’s rail infrastructure in his speech.
“Our journey towards a more seamless and modernized public transportation system does not end here,” he said adding, “We are committed to building station after station, reaching as far and as fast as our people’s needs dictate.”
The President also mentioned ongoing major rail projects aimed at further enhancing connectivity and reducing travel time.
These include the Unified Grand Central Station, the Metro Manila Subway Project, MRT-7, the North-South Commuter Railway, MRT-4, and the Philippine National Railways South Long Haul.
