'90s anime to appear on big screen in Japanese Film Festival 2024

This year’s Japanese Film Festival will showcase — free of charge — 14 films, among which are animes from the '90s that aired on local television.
Get the ball rolling as Sakuragi and the team are back in “The First Slam Dunk.” The sports anime movie was first released in 2023 in Philippines theaters.
The popularity of "Slam Dunk" in the country can be attributed to the airing of its 1993 anime series on local television.
More mysteries to be solved as “Detective Conan” will showcase two movies: “Detective Conan The Movie: The Time-Bombed Skyscraper,” which was first released in 1997, and “Detective Conan The Movie: The Private Eyes’ Requiem,” which premiered in 2004.
The mystery-thriller anime was also dubbed in Filipino as it aired on local televisions in the early ‘20s.
The '70s anime “Voltes V” will also grace this year’s Japanese Film Festival with the movie “Voltes V: The Liberation.”
The local and live-action adaptation of the action-science fantasy anime also made it to the lineup.
“Voltes V: Legacy: The Cinematic Experience" will make its comeback to the big screen. It's series aired in 2023 on local television.
