'Rewind' now top grossing movie of all time in PH
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 18) — Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2023 entry "Rewind" is now the country's highest grossing film ever.
As of Jan. 18, the movie starring reel-to-real couple Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera had a gross income of ₱815 million, according to ABS-CBN Film Productions, Inc., commonly called Star Cinema.
It said the film posted a global gross revenue of ₱845 million as of 3 p.m. on Thursday.
The movie, co-produced with APR entertainment and Agosto Dos Productions, beat Kathryn Bernardo starrer "Hello Love Goodbye" with Alden Richards, which had ₱691 million, and "The House of Us" with Daniel Padilla with ₱660 million.
The film is about John (Dantes) a self-absorbed husband who wants to have a "rewind" in his marriage to wife Mary (Rivera) with the help of Lods (Pepe Herrera) after they face unforseen domestic struggles.
The family drama is one of 10 entries in MMFF and directed by Mae Cruz Alviar.
It is still showing in over 300 cinemas in the Philippines, US, Canada, Guam, and Saipan.
Dantes and Rivera spoke to CNN Philippines New Day about reuniting in the big screen after 13 years.
