Nescafé product flagged by FDA imported by other parties – Nestlé PH

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 24) — The unregistered Nescafé product which the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) earlier warned the public against is not distributed and sold by Nestlé Philippines, the company clarified on Wednesday.

Nestlé said the “NESCAFE LATTE 3 in 1 Premix Coffee – Hazelnut” referred to in a recent FDA advisory was imported into the Philippines by other parties without authorization from the regulatory agency, which is why it is not registered locally.

“We are coordinating with the FDA over this matter,” the company said in a statement sent to CNN Philippines.

“All Nestlé products produced or imported by Nestlé Philippines are approved and registered for local sale with the FDA,” it added.

Nescafé is an instant coffee brand under the company Nestlé, which is headquartered in Switzerland.

The FDA earlier advised against the purchase, consumption, and sale of the premix coffee product in question, saying it has no certificate of product registration.

Since it did not go through the agency’s evaluation process, the FDA said it cannot assure the quality and safety of the product.
