Ex-child star Jiro Manio sells Gawad Urian trophy for ₱75k

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 4) --- Award-winning former child actor Jiro Manio sold his Gawad Urian trophy for ₱75,000 to an online personality.

Manio was featured in the latest episode of "Pinoy Pawnstars" by content creator Boss Toyo, also known as Jayson Luzadas.

"Nung napanood kita, sabi ng utol ko na magtatayo ka daw ng museum. Naisip ko, sana mapabilang ako doon sa mga dating artista na nakatanggap ng mga awards," the former actor said in the YouTube vlog.

[Translation: After watching one of your vlogs, my brother told me that you will be building a museum. I wanted to be part of it as one of the former actors who won an award.]

He initially offered his Best Actor trophy, which he won in 2004 for his role in the critically-acclaimed film "Magnifico, for ₱500,000.

Luzadas made a counteroffer of ₱50,000, but Manio haggled at ₱100,000.

In the end, Manio and Luzadas agreed to have it sold for ₱75,000.

When asked if he plans to return to acting soon, Manio said that he is focused on working as a volunteer in a drug treatment and rehabilitation facility in Bataan.

Manio has been inactive in the entertainment industry after grappling with substance abuse.

He was in and out of rehabilitation from 2011 to 2017.

Aside from Gawad Urian, Manio's performance in "Magnifico" also won him a Best Child Actor award in the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences Awards in 2004.

His last movie project was "Ang Tanging Ina Mo (Last na 'To!) in 2010.
