Gillian Vicencio denies hand in KathNiel breakup

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 2) — Actress Gillian Vicencio has broken her silence to deny she was the reason for the breakup of Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla.

"Wag niyo po ako idamay dito, hindi po totoo. Bigyan naman po natin sila ng respeto," she wrote on X (formerly Twitter) Friday.

[Translation: Don't blame me for this, it's not true. Let's give them respect.]

Vicencio was dragged into the KathNiel split after a Reddit user claimed she had an affair with Padilla in September during the run of their television series "2 Good 2 Be True."

Vicencio in August had also denied rumors about him and Padilla in an interview with DJ Jhaiho.

"Wala talaga. Magtotropa talaga kaming apat," she said. "Hindi ko talaga alam saan nanggagaling 'yung mga sabi-sabi."

[Translation: There's really nothing going on. The four of us are just friends. I really don't know where those rumors are coming from.]

Vicencio was also part of the film "A Very Good Girl (2023)," which Bernardo starred in.

The long-time couple confirmed they have parted ways through separate statements on Instagram on Thursday.

Other eagled-eyed fans, meanwhile, are pointing at young actress Andrea Brillantes as the rumored cause of the breakup.

This was after social media personality Xian Gaza went live on Facebook.

"Antagal ko na alam 'yang pambababae ni Daniel. Matagal na legit 'yan (I've known Daniel's womanizing for a long time. That's been legit for a long time)," he said.

While he did not explicitly talk about Brillantes and Padilla, Gaza alluded to their possible relationship.

Before going live, Gaza also posted an alleged photo of the actor and actress in an elevator.
