Gilas overwhelms Guam in opening window of FIBA World Cup Asian qualifiers

Metro Manila, Philippines – Gilas Pilipinas is off to a triumphant start in the first window of the FIBA World Cup 2027 Asian qualifiers with an 87-46 win over Guam on Friday, Nov. 28, at the Calvo Fieldhouse in Guam.

Justin Brownlee showed the way for Gilas with 22 points, two rebounds, and two assists, while Quentin Millora-Brown was solid in his national team debut with six points and nine rebounds.

It was a balanced attack for Gilas as all Filipino cagers scored at least a field goal in the match.

Dwight Ramos was the other Gilas player who tallied in double digits with 10 markers along with six boards.

June Mar Fajardo and AJ Edu also chipped in eight points apiece for Gilas.

Jericho Cruz, who plays for the San Miguel Beermen, paced Guam with 17 points, two rebounds, and two assists.

Gilas and Guam will square off again on Dec. 1 at the Blue Eagle Gym in Quezon City.
