
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 3)— More than 10,000 devotees and 450 Black Nazarene replicas participated on Wednesday as the Quiapo Church started its first day of Replica and Estandarte blessing and procession.
The Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene, also known as Quiapo Church, said it is expecting a major increase in the number of devotees for the Traslacion on Jan. 9.
Church authorities said among the blessed 450 Black Nazarene replicas, 180 images were from Hijos del Nazareno (HDN) – Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno, 150 were from HDN – Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene, and 120 from HDN Basilica.
During the replica blessing and procession, some marching bands paraded in front of the Quiapo Church to escort the Black Nazarene replica carcades.
The last day of the replica blessing and procession will be on Thursday (Jan. 4) at 1:30 p.m.

Fr. Hans Magdurulang, spokesperson of the Quiapo Church, earlier said the blessing procession will pass by Carriedo Street, Rizal Avenue, Quezon Boulevard, Plaza Miranda, and end with the blessing of replicas in front of the Quiapo Church.
Meanwhile, the Catholic Church released on Wednesday its reminders for devotees joining the Jan. 9 Traslacion.
