Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 3) — Megastar Sharon Cuneta has revealed that she and husband, former Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, had briefly parted ways and later reconciled.
She bared this on New Year’s Day after previously sharing now-deleted posts on social media that raised speculations about her 27-year marriage.
“Nag-away kami, naghiwalay kami, tapos nagbati na kami. So, okay na kami, okay?” the singer-actress said during an Instagram Live with her family, including her husband.
[Translation: We fought, we split up, then we got back together. So, we’re fine now, okay?]
Moments before, Pangilinan also chimed in, telling viewers that misunderstanding is normal in all families and marriages.
“Every post I made was just to show you when I was sad, and then of course like everyone else, that’s normal,” Cuneta said.
“After sadness, we fix some things, and then we become happy, so I don’t know why some people have to be so mean,” she added, although she didn’t specify the posts she was referring to.
In a Christmas greeting, Cuneta uploaded an old photo of her family that had gone viral, as she cropped out the head of a man believed to be Pangilinan. She later took the post down.
The celebrity also recently posted a cryptic Instagram story about “sidechicks,” although around the same time, she penned a message of gratitude to Pangilinan, saying she “married a good and honest man.”
“A lot of the quotes…all the other posts were for people close to me that I think needed those posts. So, you always assume, please don’t assume,” Cuneta said during her Instagram Live.
