Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 22) — Senator Pia Cayetano is the first woman elected as Blue Ribbon committee chairperson.
It was formalized during the plenary session on Monday after Senate Majority Joel Villanueva moved to elect Cayetano to the post.
She replaced Sen. Francis Tolentino, who resigned from the position in December. Villanueva said they received the copy of Tolentino’s resignation letter dated Jan. 22, 2024.

The motion received no objection.
Senate Minority Leader Koko Pimentel “applauded” the majority’s decision.
“We congratulate our first-ever female chairperson of the Senate blue ribbon committee,” Pimentel said.
Villanueva said the composition of the panel remains the same.
