Recto joins BSP Monetary Board

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 22) – Finance Secretary Ralph Recto on Monday took his oath as the seventh member and government sector representative of the highest policy-making body of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).  

Recto, who was named as the new Finance chief earlier this month, joins Benjamin Diokno, V. Bruce Tolentino​, Anita Aquino​, ​​Romeo Bernardo​​, ​Rosalia De Leon, and BSP Gov. Eli Remolona, who chairs the Monetary Board (MB).

Remolona administered Recto’s oath.

Diokno, who Recto replaced as Finance chief, returned as a member of the MB after his exit from the Department of Finance.

BSP Deputy Governor Eduardo Bobier, citing the New Central Bank Act, earlier said that a member of the Cabinet could take one seat on the MB, and that secretaries of the National Economic and Development Authority or the Department of Trade and Industry have served as government representatives.
