Filipina teen set to debut in upcoming K-pop girl group

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 11) — A young Filipina is hoping to make a name in the K-pop industry.

Elisia Parmisano, 14, was named as the first member of an upcoming global girl group by F&F Entertainment.

In the Jan. 10 episode of South Korean survival program “Universe Ticket,” Parmisano advanced to the P-level — the highest ranking in the talent competition. This secured her a spot in the soon to be named girl group.

Meanwhile, fellow Filipina contestant Gehlee Dangca is still in the running to make the cut.

Another Filipina, Aya Natsumi, was eliminated in the early part of the competition which began in November 2023.

“Universe Ticket” had 82 contestants coming from different parts of the globe, including Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan, China, Canada, and Australia.

With the popularity of K-pop music around the world, many nationalities are also trying to make it in the cutthroat industry.

In 2022, Filipina-Argentinian actress Chantal Videla was officially unveiled as a member of K-pop girl group Lapillus.

Last year, HORI7ON became the first all-Filipino group to debut in South Korea after winning the local survival show “Dream Maker” in ABS-CBN.
