Filipino expat killed in drone attack in Saudi Arabia oil field — DMW

Metro Manila, Philippines – A Filipino worker was killed in a drone attack at a Saudi Aramco facility in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) confirmed Thursday, Oct. 22.

The DMW said a male Filipino was killed after the military intercepted a drone targeting the facility at the Shaybah oil field on Wednesday.

Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Cacdac said the government has reached out to the worker’s family.

The department said it has yet to disclose other details.

The DMW said it is monitoring the situation in Saudi Arabia and other Gulf States, advising Filipinos to remain vigilant, follow safety protocols, and monitor advisories from local and Philippine authorities.

In a Wednesday report, the Saudi Gazette, an English-language media outlet, said the Ministry of Energy identified two people killed in the drone attack, a Filipino and a Nepali, while two others, a Pakistani and an Indian national, were injured.
