Metro Manila, Philippines – Power distributor Meralco on Tuesday, Oct. 13, announced a 32-centavo per kilowatt-hour (kWh) increase in charges this month over higher generation charges.
This raises the typical household rate to ₱15.0615 per kWh from ₱14.7424 per kWh in September, equivalent to a ₱64 increase for residential customers who consume 200 kWh, the company said.
It attributed the overall increase to ₱0.4973 per kWh more in the generation charge, driven in part by higher fuel costs. The generation charge is 64 percent of the monthly billing statement.
