John Amores gets another shot in PBA after signing with Titan Ultra

Metro Manila, Philippines – John Amores is getting a second chance in the PBA after signing with the Titan Ultra Giant Risers ahead of the start of the Season 50 Governors’ Cup, the team announced on Wednesday, July 8.

The controversial cager’s return to the PBA hardcourt comes less than two years after his professional playing license was revoked following a shooting in Lumban, Laguna in September 2024.

Amores and his brother surrendered to authorities a few days after the incident and were eventually released after posting bail on attempted homicide charges.

Amores was still part of the NorthPort Batang Pier’s lineup at the time of the shooting incident before the franchise was taken over by Titan Ultra in October 2025.

The Laguna shooting was not the first time Amores was embroiled in controversy.

He was indefinitely banned by the NCAA when he went on a punching spree in Jose Rizal University’s game against the College of Saint Benilde Blazers in November 2022.

On Wednesday, Amores shared on social media a video of himself securing a professional playing license from the Games and Amusements Board.

Titan Ultra will square off against Terrafirma Dyip in the opening game of the PBA Season 50 Governors’ Cup on July 10 at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.
