Metro Manila, Philippines – A Philippine Airlines (PAL) flight to Hong Kong was delayed on Thursday, July 2, after a reported security concern prompted authorities to inspect the aircraft at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 in Pasay City.

In a phone interview with NewsWatch Plus, the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group (AVSEGROUP) said the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines relayed information about a possible bomb on flight PR300.

The AVSEGROUP said the initial report indicated that a passenger heard a loud sound and suspected a bomb.

It said standard security procedures were immediately implemented, including the disembarkation of passengers while explosive ordnance disposal personnel, airport police, and K-9 units inspected the aircraft and screened all baggage.

Authorities declared the aircraft clear at 11:32 a.m. There were no explosive devices, incendiary materials, or other security threats.

The group said authorities are investigating the report.

PAL has yet to release an official statement.
