Frozen yogurt seems to be having a resurgence lately, with dozens of shops –both familiar and new – once again popping up across the metro. To stand out and draw crowds, many of these froyo shops are creating new ways to enjoy their tasty desserts. Everyone has their favorite froyo place and go-to-order, but if you’re looking to shake things up and try something different, here are five unusual and fun froyo finds that are more than just a typical frozen yogurt swirl with toppings:
- Froyo Cake from Pinkberry
You’ve heard of ice cream cakes, but what about a cake made with frozen yogurt? Found in just a handful of Pinkberry locations, these tangy, tasty cakes come in two delicious flavors: Chocolate Cornflake Crunch, a sponge cake with chocolate frozen yogurt topped with Nutella-coated cornflakes, and Mango Cheesecake Swirl, made with original frozen yogurt layered with a graham crust and cheesecake, finished with fresh mangoes on top. - Bingsu Froyo from Red Mango
Available only in select Red Mango branches, this new menu item is inspired by the popular Korean shaved ice dessert, bingsu. Similar to its Korean counterpart, Bingsu Froyo is made with shaved frozen yogurt topped with Red Mango’s signature froyo. It currently comes in two flavors: Mango Biscoff, with mango, mochi balls, sliced almonds, and Biscoff crumbs, and Strawberry Oreo, with strawberries, mochi, sliced almonds, and crushed Oreos. - Midori Matcha from Yoyogi
Yoyogi is better known for its tart and luscious blended yogurt drinks, but don’t miss out on its frozen yogurt counterparts called “yoguruto.” One of its standout offerings is the Midori Matcha Yoguruto, which features classic frozen yogurt topped with matcha dust, crushed cookies, and brown sugar pearls for the ultimate indulgent bite. - Luxe Dubai Chocolate from Llaollao
Dubai chocolate is all the rage with its creamy pistachio spread and crunchy filo pastry, also known as kataifi, showing up on just about every kind of dessert. Llaollao joined in on the craze with its special Luxe Dubai Chocolate tower, made with frozen yogurt, layers of Oreo crumble, pistachio cream topping, crispy thin pastry, and a rich dark chocolate drizzle. - Bubble Waffle with Frozen Yogurt from Yolé
While frozen yogurt is already seen as a healthier alternative to ice cream, a newer shop in the Philippines, Yolé, offers a zero-sugar-added version that still keeps that refreshing, classic froyo taste. On top of that, you can also order bubble waffles instead of cones at this froyo and ice cream shop for a completely different frozen yogurt experience.
From cakes and bingsu to bubble waffles and trendy toppings, these unique froyo creations show that frozen yogurt can be just as exciting as any other frozen treat. So why not skip your usual order and give one of these fun froyo finds a try?
