Metro Manila, Philippines – Justin Brownlee delivered another heroic performance as Barangay Ginebra snatched a 102-100 win over the TNT Tropang 5G in Game 1 of the PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup finals on Wednesday, June 3, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
Brownlee buried a fallaway bank shot against Tropang 5G import Chris McCullough with 0.6 seconds left in the game.
Calvin Oftana missed a potential game-tying layup off the inbound lob by Jordan Heading in the ensuing play as time expired.
RJ Abarrientos knocked down two clutch four-pointers prior to give Ginebra back the lead as TNT held on a 95-90 lead in the fourth period.
RR Pogoy then converted two charities and drilled a three-pointer from top of the key to tie the score at 100-all.
Abarrientos finished with 24 points and seven assists, while Brownlee added 23 points and eight assists for Ginebra.
McCullough and Pogoy led the Tropang 5G with 25 and 22 points, respectively.
Game 2 is on Friday, June 5, at the Big Dome.
