Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Ed Daquioag shone anew as the UST Growling Tigers survived the FEU Tamaraws, 72-71, in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) on Wednesday (September 9) at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.
UST now holds a 2-0 win-loss record to grab a share the lead with UP Fighting Maroons.
Daquioag sizzled with 18 points including the final six points in the crucial stretch in the fourth quarter to put UST on top for good, 72-67, with 1:41 to go.
Pre-season favorite FEU, which made mince meat of Ateneo Blue Eagles last Sunday, scored four more points after that before star guard Mike Tolomia turned the ball over in the final play leading to the loss.
Tolomia committed 10 turnovers.
Daquioag followed up a 28-point outing against the Adamson Falcons during the opening weekend with another dazzling performance in Wednesday’s game.
But he didn’t do it alone.
