MMDA installs traffic barriers along EDSA

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) started to put plastic barriers at some choke points along EDSA on Tuesday (August 18).

The barriers along the thoroughfare’s Guadalupe northbound were aimed at preventing buses from loading and unloading at EDSA’s inner lanes.

There were also some barriers along the southbound lane heading to Ortigas flyover, and along Connecticut.

The MMDA said the installation of these cones was intended to minimize accidents along EDSA due to vehicles swerving into the middle lane.

This could also reduce traffic congestion caused by accidents.

The MMDA added it was still evaluating which areas along the highway would also need barriers.
